The Rocket Man singer fell out with Sheila Farebrother in 2008 but paid for her double hip replacement surgery in January
Sir Elton John has scotched suggestions that his eight-year rift with his mother is healed by saying he does not want her in his life.
The Rocket Man singer fell out with Sheila Farebrother in 2008 and she was forced to hire an Elton tribute act for her 90th birthday party last year.
The row seemed to be easing after he revealed earlier this month that he sent her flowers on her big day. But Sir Elton, 68, has now said: “It upsets me but to be honest, I don’t miss her.
“When she says things in the press, like last year, ‘I haven’t spoken to Elton since he married that f****** a****** David Furnish’. That was pretty hard to take. I don’t hate my mother. I look after her but I don’t want her in my life.”
The bust-up came after Sheila refused to snub two of her son’s oldest friends, Bob Halley and John Reid, after he fell out with them. She then accused Sir Elton’s hubby David , 53, of turning him against her.
She said last year: “It was all so stupid, so petty.”
But despite the frosty years, Sir Elton paid £30,000 for Sheila, of West Sussex, to have a double hip replacement in January – and told the Mirror: “We’re back in touch and have been since mum’s 90th birthday.”
Meanwhile, Sir Elton has also opened up about his difficult relationship with dad Stanley Dwight, who died in 1991.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: “They wouldn’t hold you or say they loved you.
“I was afraid of my father. I was walking on eggshells the whole time, trying to get his approval. He’s been dead for a long time and I’m still trying to prove things to him."
